Beauty is generally passively perceived. The Beauty that exists within our context does not always affect our conscious decision making or mood. However, at a passive level the Beauty in all things helps to define our experience. As designers we understand the inherent nature of beauty in all things. It is the role of the architect to make that beauty apparent. In this case the question then becomes ‘how do we make inherent Beauty apparent through the Architecture of a Home?’ This is where Accentuation comes in:
In this Home proportional Accentuations are used to define a beautiful atmosphere. Tools such as elongation and layering and compression have been used to Accentuate the Beauty in desired contexts. Rather than using a direct correlation between the human form and our architectural proportions we elongate hallways and doors and windows to reflect the inherent beauty in the length of the human form.
